The Open de France is probably the closest thing to a major on the European tour. This year’s prize fund of 4 million euros will no doubt draw the attention of some of golf’s biggest names. The Albatros Course was designed by Hubert Chesneau, with Robert Von Hagge as a consultant, and opened in 1990. This course has now been the venue of the Open de France since 1991 being played 16 times in a row to become its permanent venue. The new ‘stadium-golf’ design of the course allows a large number of spectators to follow the game and the players.
Graeme has fond memories of this course as he was crowned winner in 2007, taking home 666,660 euros. This remains Graeme’s best result on the tour and one of his favourite places to play. Stormy will be hoping that lightning strikes twice in Paris!
